Brian Harman WITB - The Open Championship Winner

The Open Championship was dominated by Brian Harman the entire week. Going into the Open, he was probably not on the top of too many lists of who was going to win. In the end, he played incredible golf, was very smart about how he played each hole and made a ton of putts inside 10 feet. That seems to be a pretty good formula for winning a major championship. Harman is a Titleist guy, but we noticed that his putter was TaylorMade; take a look at all of the clubs in the Open Champions golf bag.

Harman plays with a Titleist TSi2 driver set at 9 degrees. He hit this driver in the fairway all week at Royal Liverpool. The driver has a Graphite Design Tour AD IZ 5 S shaft perfect for the fast and consistent swing speed of Brian Harman.

Fairway Wood

The fairway wood is a 3 wood Titleist TSi2 set at 13.5 degrees. This 3 wood features a Fujikura Speeder 661 Evolution II S shaft. The TSi2 3 wood is the only fairway wood that Harman has in his bag; from here, he moves right down to the Titleist U-500.

Brian Harman has two utility irons in his bag, the U-500 3 and 4 iron. The U-500 is designed to blend in with the other Titleist irons that players carry, but it has plenty of workability and forgiveness.

If you watched the Open Championship, you saw that Harman used his U 500 irons quite a bit.

From the U-500 4 iron, Harman moves to the Titleist 620 CB in the 5-PW. These irons feature the True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue S300. In the 3 and 4 iron, you will find the Project X HZRDUS Smoke Black 90.

It’s no surprise that a Titleist golfers like Harman would have several Vokey wedges in his bag. He currently carries the Titleist Vokey Design SM9 in the 50, 54, and 60 degree lofts. During the Open Championship, Harman was incredibly consistent with these wedges, which helped his scoring. All of the wedges feature a True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue S400 shaft.

Finally, the club that made Brian Harman’s Open Championship win look almost easy, the TaylorMade Spider OS CB. This larger mallet putter has a ton of stability and helped Harman to stay stable and consistent in that 10 foot and under range.

Coming down the stretch, we also saw how impressive he was with lag putting.
