Rory McIlroy WITB - Tour Championship Winner

Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy made Sunday at the Tour Championship very entertaining. Both of these players have had an incredible season, but in the end, Rory could pull through with the win. Rory always plays a solid game of golf; he has incredible ball speed, can make clutch putts, and plays the golf course quite intelligently. Of course, he also has equipment perfectly suited to his game. Here are the clubs he used to win the Tour Championship.

Rory has been a TaylorMade guy for quite some time, and his club selection throughout the entire bag will be TaylorMade golf clubs. It should come as no surprise that the current driver in play is the TaylorMade Stealth Plus. This is set to 9 degrees and has the Fujikura Ventus Black 6X shaft.

The Stealth has been quite a popular release this year with the new carbon face technology. Golfers admit it has a slightly different feel, and players with high swing speeds see a bit of added control.

Fairway Woods

For the Tour Championship, Rory has two fairway woods in the bag. The TaylorMade SIM Titanium at 15 degrees and the TaylorMade Stealth Plus at 17 degrees. This will play like a 3 wood and a strong 5 wood. The shaft in the 3 wood is a Mitsubishi Kai’li White 80 TX; in the 5 wood, he has a Fujikura Ventus Black 9X

The irons are the clubs in Rory’s bag that you will have a little bit of a hard time getting your hands on. These clubs are the TaylorMade Rors Proto in the 3-9 iron; they feature the Project X 7.0 golf shafts. If Rory keeps playing the way he does, we are hoping these irons will make their way into the hands of some amateur golfers at some point.

McIlroy plays with the TaylorMade MG3 Raw wedges. Remember that his irons only go down to the 9 iron, so instead, he has the blade style MG3 Raw in place in the 46 degree loft. In addition, he has a 54 and a 60. With the extra fairway wood and the 3 iron that Rory carries, he only has these three wedges in the bag. The TaylorMade MG3 Raw wedges all have the Project X 6.5 golf shaft in place.

The putter almost always steals the show in an event like the Tour Championship. This week was certainly no exception. Rory played with the TaylorMade Spider Hydro Blast, and it was evident that he felt pretty confident with this putter. The putter has a SuperSTroke Pistol GT in place to help with both comfort and stability.

Golf Ball

Rory McIlroy plays with the TaylorMade TP5x golf ball, a perfect match for his impressive swing speed and desire to spin the ball around the greens.

As you can see, Rory McIlroy came to the Tour Championship prepared to win, and his equipment certainly helped pull that off. Except for the proto type irons, you can find all of this equipment at Fairway Jockey and talk to a professional about which is best for your game.
