Scottie Scheffler WITB - The Players Championship Winner

Scottie Scheffler has done it again. With the Players Championship being his second win of 2023, it’s looking like Scotties 2023 season could be a lot like his 2022. Scheffler had a few shots coming down the back nine, where he got into a little trouble, but he played smart and got the ball back into play. Those five birdies in a row in the middle of the round certainly set him apart from the crowd. Let’s take a look at what Scottie Scheffler had in his bag and how that helped him pull off the win.

Although Scotty has a few different brands in his bag, the TaylorMade clubs are featured in how woods. The TaylorMade Stealh 2 Plus is a brand new driver that has caught the attention of tour professionals.

Scottie plays with an 8 degree driver loft and a Fujikura Ventus Black 7 X golf shaft. For the most part, the driver was strong for Scottie at the Players, but there were also plenty of holes where he needed the 3 wood from the tee.

Scottie Scheffler plates with the TaylorMade Stealth 2 three wood with 15 degrees of loft. The club features a similar Fujikura Ventus shaft that is found in the driver, except this time, it’s the 8x. Scottie hits a really strong draw shot that he can count on with this club, and it came in handy several times at the Players Championship.

Scotty Scheffler plays with the Srixon ZU85 golf irons in the 3 and 4. These are utility type irons, and they feature the Nippon N.S. Pro Modus 3 Hybrid Prototype 10 X. Many golf professionals switch to the utility type golf irons in the long iron to help with forgiveness and accuracy.

For the rest of the irons, he has the TaylorMade P7TW in the 5-PW. These have the True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100. The DG X100 shafts are one of the most popular choices for PGA Tour professionals.

When you watch Scheffler play in tournaments, one of the things that stands out is how he is able to play with his wedges. He has incredible touch and can get himself out of some tricky situations.

Scotty plays the Vokey Design SM8 in the 50 and 56 degree wedges. In the 60 degree, he plays with the Titleist Vokey Design WedgeWorks Proto. All of the wedges in the bag feature the True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue S400.

When Scotty Scheffler got hot in the middle of his round, you could easily say that the putter had a lot to do with it. The Scotty Cameron Special Select Timeless Tourtype GSS tour prototype is the putter of choice for Scheffler. Although this one is not available to amateur golfers, plenty of Scotty Cameron models have similar capabilities and designs.

The most important thing for Scheffler right now is that he trusts this putter and knows where the ball is going.

If you think any of these clubs could be a good fit for your golf bag, take a look at the selection that Fairway Jockey has. Even if the shaft combination needs to be a little different than it is for Schefffler, you will have plenty of customization options.
