Si Woo Kim WITB - Sony Open Winner

Si Woo Kim is the champion of the Sony Open, and he had to make a birdie on the final hole to pull it off. It was an exciting finish at the Sony, and seeing Kim thrive with his new broomstick putting stroke was certainly fun to watch. Kim is a Callaway guy, and he has recently made the switch to some of the newest releases in the Callaway lineup. If you are interested in what Si Woo Kim had in his bag to win the Sony Open, we have you covered.

Driver

Si Woo Kim hits a driver quite consistently. When a ball needs to get in the fairway, he can certainly get it done. The Callaway Paradym Triple Diamond is Kim’s latest driver selection. He has this set at 8.5 degrees, and it has a Fujikura Ventus Black 6X Shaft. The 8.5 degree setting would not work for every golfer, but to keep ball flight controlled, this is what Si Woo Kim needed.

Fairway Woods

There are two fairway woods in the bag for Si Woo Kim. Each of these are the Callaway Paradym Triple Diamond, one is a 3 wood, and one is a 5 wood. The 3 wood is set at 15 degrees of loft and features the Fujikura Ventus Black 8X. The 5 wood is set at 18 degrees and features the Fujikura Ventus Black 9X. As you can see, Kim kept things consistent throughout his bag by going with this Fujikura Ventus shaft.

Irons

The irons are the Callaway X Forged CB, and Si Woo Kim plays a 3-PW. Many players are putting a utility or a graphite shafted iron in for the 3 iron, but all of Kim’s irons feature a KBS Tour-V 125 shaft.

Wedges

With that extra 3 iron in the bag and the two fairway woods, Kim has three wedges total in the bag. The pitching wedge from the iron set combined with the Callaway Jaws Raw in a 54 and 60-degree loft.

These wedges are also going to feature the KBS Tour-V 125 shaft. The carryover in shaft selection from the driver to the wood and from the irons to the wedges is something that amateur golfers should learn from.

Putter

The putter was a big change for Si Woo Kim at the Sony Open. He switched to a broomstick style and used the Odyssey 2 Ball 10 long version. The results were pretty impressive, and he certainly had enough confidence to pull off a win in Hawaii.

Final Thoughts

The Callaway Paradym line has not been on the market long, and it is already helping players secure PGA Tour victories. If you are in the market for a new fairway wood or driver, take a look at the customization options from Fairway Jockey. Even if you don’t have the clubhead speed or the accuracy that Kim has, there are still options that will fit the specific needs of your golf game.
