WITB Sepp Straka - Honda Classic Winner

The Honda Classic wasn’t really lining up to be the most exciting finish in golf history. However, as we moved close to the finish, things took a turn, and Sepp Straka won a golf tournament that nobody would have guessed was his to win. Straka is a player that has been around for several years but has struggled to really breakthrough. This Honda Classic may do it with the performance that we saw. Looking into Sepp Straka’s golf bag was quite a bit of fun; he has a mix of clubs from all different manufacturers, things that any amateur can get their hands on.

Driver

It doesn’t come as too much of a surprise that Straka has the new TaylorMade Stealth Plus in the bag. The Stealth Plus is really popular this year, and golfers are finding it to be long and have a tremendous feel. This driver is 9 degrees and has a Mitsubishi Kai’li White 60 TX golf shaft.

Fairway Wood and Hybrid

The 3 wood is also a TaylorMade Stealth Plus in the 15-degree loft. This has a Mitsubishi Tensei CK Pro White 80 TX. These two golf shafts have a similar feel, helping to ensure that Straka has lower dispersion and more overall distance.

Callaway Apex UW in the 19 degrees is the next club in Straka's bag. This also has a Mitsubishi shaft but a Diamana DF 80TX. It’s important for amateurs to take note of the different shaft choices in the golf clubs that professionals put in their bags. Each of these shafts is designed to bring up a certain level of performance

Irons

The irons are the Srixon ZX7 in the 4-9 iron. These are very clean-looking irons with a lot of workability and precision. The overall feel of the Srixon ZX7 is also really pure. Straka has a True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100 in these irons, a popular option on the PGA Tour.

Wedges

Straka carries four matching wedges in his golf bag. The Cleveland RTX ZipCore in the 46, 52, 56, and 60-degree lofts all have a matching True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue S400. The Cleveland RTX ZipCore is a really versatile wedge with a bit of forgiveness and plenty of spin. Although it is not one of the most popular choices on tour, the Cleveland RTX ZipCore has a lot to offer.

Putter

The Odyssey Stroke Lab Tuttle is the putter of choice for Straka. This is not the newest putter on the market, but as we have mentioned with putters before, the perfect fit is more important than the best technology.

Looking at a golf bag like this one can help golfers of any level see how a great set of clubs is pieced together. After his most recent win, there will likely be some changes to Straka’s bag. He will have no problem picking up a full bag equipment contract after a performance like the one at the Honda Classic. In the meantime, it was nice to see a player piece together a great group of clubs that any amateur can play with.
