Mitsubishi Diamana PD Shaft Review

Overview

The Diamana PD is a smooth feeling low launch, low spin shaft. This shaft has a more active handle section than many other low spin shafts and is well suited for feel players who like to maneuver the club with their hands. Overall, the performance of the shaft cannot be denied and includes a healthy amount of tour usage. Technologies such as Xlink Resin System generates great feel while maximizing stability for tighter dispersion.

Looks

diamana pd

Diamana PD offers a sleek look that is very clean. Just enough design to look cool, while not going over the top and creating any distractions. The ion-plated finish sits somewhere between a matte and gloss finish.

Feel

Compared to other low spin "tour-profile" shafts, the Diamana PD has a more active grip section. This leads to a less boardy feel and something that feels easier to manipulate with your hands. Compared to shafts such as Ventus Black or HZRDUS Black, you will feel slightly more bend near the top of the shaft during the transition while the tip end of the shaft remains stiff and in control. The loading feeling in the hands isn't whippy, rather sits somewhere similar to a Ventus Blue profile.

Overall, the shaft feels very smooth and in control. For those that don't like to feel any bend in the handle section of a shaft, the PD may not be the best fit. But for someone that does and needs a low launch, spin controlling shaft, the PD is the perfect fit.

Performance

The Diamana PD shaft stands out as a performance-driven option in the 5th generation Diamana lineup. In testing, many users feel that the shaft tends to promote a fade-bias. It provides excellent shot-shaping potential, and for most produces a flatter, more penetrating ball flight without sacrificing stability or control.

With spin rates consistently in the 2300–2500 RPM range, the PD ensures optimal distance while maintaining shot consistency, even on flatter trajectories. Compared to its counterparts—the versatile GT and the high-launch TB—the PD is ideal for players who favor a more controlled, low-spin flight and prioritize precision and speed.

While its stiff profile and fade bias may not be for everyone, its ability to deliver stable performance and a premium feel makes it a top choice for skilled golfers looking to maximize control and distance.

The PD has a wide range of weight options, ranging from 40 grams all the way to 80. For drivers, the 60 gram option we feel has the best blend of speed and stability. But for players placing more emphasis on control and consistency, we recommend moving up a weight class. While those with slower swing speeds or that place more priority on speed can consider trying the 50 gram options.

How it Compares

You may be wondering how the Diamana PD compares to other popular shafts in it's category. We'll give you a brief summary of what you can expect between the PD and various competitors.

Ventus Black

Similar launch & spin profile to Ventus Black. Ventus TR Black will produce a slightly lower launch profile while also being much stiffer in the handle section, favoring players who prefer to feel little to no bend while swinging.

Ventus Blue

Diamana PD produces a lower launch and spin profile to Ventus blue. Both will have a similar feeling in the handle of the shaft, but PD is much stiffer in the tip section which amounts to lower launch.

Tensei White

Similar profiles with the main difference being that the Tensei White has a slightly softer tip section. For those, that tend to hold their wrist angle and release the club late in their swing, the softer tip of the Tensei White may produce better feel and more consistency buy syncing up release timing with the release of a softer tip. While those that have an earlier release may sync up better with Diamana PD.

HZRDUS Black

HRDUS Black will produce a slightly lower launch profile while also being stiffer in the handle section, favoring players who prefer to feel little to no bend while swinging.
