Tony Finau WITB - Mexico Open Winner

For a long time there was talk about whether or not Tony Finau could win on the PGA Tour. With the Mexico Open being his 6th win, he has certainly proved that he is capable. The Mexico Open was a competitive one with Jon Rahm chasing Finau own over the last two days. However, with a solid 5 under round on Sunday, Finau was too tough to beat. Let’s take a look at what Finau had in his bag to win, he always has a mix of interesting equipment that we can learn from.

Driver

Finau is playing with the Ping G425 LST set at 7.5 degrees. The Ping LST model is a lower spin option that has plenty of roll when it hits the turf. He has a Mitsubishi Diamana D+ Limited 70 TX shaft.

Fairway Wood

For the Mexico Open, Finau had one fairway wood in the bag, the Callaway Paradym Triple Diamond T. This is set at 14 degrees, and is the newest addition to his golf bag. With the 3 wood you will find a matching Mitsubishi Diamana D+ Limited shaft. However, this model is the 80 TX.

Irons

Finau is still using the Nike Vapor Fly Pro 3 with a Tour AD DI 105 Hybrid X shaft. The irons are the Ping  Blueprint in the 4-PW. These irons feature the Nippon N.S. Pro Modus3 Tour 120 TX, a good option for a faster swinging player like Finau.

Wedges

The Ping Glide 4.0 in the 50, 56 and the Titleist Vokey Design WedgeWorks Proto in the 60 are the wedges that Finau used to win the Mexico open. The Vokey Design WedgeWorks Proto is a very popular choice among professionals for the 60 degree wedge.

All three of the wedges feature the Nippon N.S. Pro Modus3 125 Wedge shaft, a similar feel to the shaft in the irons.

Putter

Tony Finau had a hot putter throughout the entire tournament. The Ping PLD Anser 2D Prototype is not a model that you can get your hands on just yet. However, there are other Ping PLD Anser putters that feature really impressive feel, consistency and performance.

Golf Ball

Last but not least, Finau plays with the Titleist Pro V1 left dot. The Pro V1 combines the perfect amount of spin, feel and distance to meet the needs of golf professionals on tour.

Final Thoughts

Tony Finau’s golf bag is a prefect example of how you can pair together equipment from a variety of manufacturer to come up with a set that performs as you need it to on the golf course. He has a little Nike, Callaway, Ping and even Titleist all within his set.

Fairway Jockey has many of the clubs that you will find in Tony Finau’s bag in stock. However, it’s best to have these custom built to meet the needs of your swing and your abilities. Custom shafts, length and lie options as well as custom grips make Fairway Jockey your go to spot for putting together a golf set that performs the way you need it to on the course.
