Butt Stiffness

Soft Stiff

Handle Section · Drives Feel

Butt stiffness refers to the stiffness profile of the handle (grip) section of the shaft. The butt section of the shaft has the biggest impact on feel. The softer the handle, the more you feel the shaft flex. The stiffer the handle, the more a shaft feels "boardy." Players who have active hands, rely on rhythm and timing, or play by feel often benefit from a softer handle, while those who have a quicker tempo or those that don't like to feel the shaft flex often prefer stiffer handles.

Tip Stiffness

2.5

Soft Stiff

Tip Section · Drives Launch

Tip stiffness refers to the stiffness profile of the end (head) section of the shaft. The tip section of the shaft has the biggest impact on launch. The softer the tip, the easier the club can rotate through impact and create loft. Shafts with softer tips generally help launch the ball higher and help correct push or slice tendencies. Shafts with stiffer tips generally help launch the ball lower and help correct pull or hook tendencies. Faster swing speeds often benefit from a stiffer tip by retaining stability and producing flighted trajectories, while slower swing speeds often benefit from a softer tip by generating speed and height.

Stable and Powerful

"I’m a 74-yr-old, 14hc, 90mph swing speed. Hitting the Callaway Quantum Max. My previous drives were carrying 190-200; with this shaft I gained 10-20 yards (really) and more control. Bombed the first two drives yesterday 220 down the middle. Note this is the 2024 model; the red 2026 is completely different. I was afraid the Red would be too whippy, but not at all, coming out of a Tensei Blue R flex it feels similar but more stable. I had this shaft cut down one inch and now am hitting the center of the face more consistently. Also the trajectory is not high unless I try, in which case it will launch over big trees. I really like how stable it feels, completely controlled."
